Great news for the upcoming edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal! After a 25-year absence, legendary jazz-fusion group UZEB will kick of its R3UNION tour in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts, where the group has already written a pair of memorable chapters in the history of the Festival and jazz itself, with unforgettable performances in 1989 and 1991. Get ready for a new chapter in jazz history!
UZEB is nothing less than the most famous of Québécois jazz groups. Legendary players in the genre of jazz fusion, recognized internationally since the ’80s, the group has sold 500,000 albums and performed almost 1,000 concerts worldwide in its career, as well as winning an array of prizes including 9 Félix Awards (Group of the Year in 1984 and 1989 and Best Jazz Group in 1983 and 1985).
Founded in 1976, the Drummondville group awakened the sleepy Québécois jazz scene before enjoying resounding international success, notably in France, coming to embody the new generation of players and becoming the ambassadors of Québécois jazz fusion. With Alain Caron on bass, Paul Brochu on drums and Michel Cusson on guitar, the group made its mark for its extraordinary virtuosity and technical prowess, with an incredibly rich sound and a maturity rarely matched in the world of instrumental music.
Twenty-five years later, with Montreal celebrating its 375th anniversary, the legendary group treats its audience to a victory lap that’s sure to write its own new chapter in music history. Join us in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts, for the launch of the UZEB R3UNION tour. The stated goal: to offer a top-flight musical performance using the cutting-edge technology that has always defined them, to thrill their devoted fans and the greater Festival audience. An event not to be missed!
