A repertoire reflecting the trends of contemporary ballet. A company that remains loyal to the very essence of classical ballet, but that is resolutely focused on creativity, both in its approach to the great classics, and through the new works it brings audiences today.

A company presenting both new and repertory works, founded in 1957 by Ludmilla Chiriaeff, Les Grands Ballets have presented classics and the great works of the 20th century, from Gisèle to Balanchine and Nijinsky, all the while promoting burgeoning artists that have gone on to become renowned talents, including Fernand Nault, James Kudelka, Edouard Lock and Ginette Laurin.

Since Gradimir Pankov’s nomination to artistic director of the company in 2000, Les Grands Ballets have shined on stages worldwide, distinguishing itself by presenting new works by emerging artists and today’s top choreographers, such as Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, and Ohad Naharin. The company will live a new beginning under the artistic direction of Ivan Cavallari as of its 17/18 season.

Les Grands Ballets embodies an innovative and bold approach, and is resolutely focused on creativity, both in its approach to the great classics, and through the new works it brings audiences today.
